Riserva Naturale Zompo lo Schioppo
Abruzzo
The name loosely translates as "the leap of the shot", a nod to how far the water jets from the cliff before falling. Fed by the Schioppo stream, it plunges through a series of drops into a wooded gorge, most spectacular in late spring when snowmelt swells the flow, and reduced to a thinner veil by late summer.
