Via Francigena — Ligurian Stage

The Via Francigena enters Italy over the Great St Bernard Pass and winds south to Rome. The Ligurian stages between Pontremoli and Sarzana roll through vineyards, chestnut woods and medieval hamlets, ending where the Magra river meets the sea near the Gulf of Poets. Almost entirely on white roads and mule tracks.
