Via Cava di San Giuseppe & Pitigliano

The "vie cave" are corridors up to 20 m deep cut through the volcanic tufa by the Etruscans, part road, part ritual way, wrapped in moss and ivy. The Via Cava di San Giuseppe links Pitigliano — a town that seems to grow out of its cliff — to a spring, a rock-cut shrine and the Etruscan necropolis.
