Via Alpina Red — Verbano Stage

The Via Alpina Red route crosses eight Alpine countries. The Verbano section climbs from Locarno over the Monte Tamaro chain and descends to Cannobio on the Italian shore of Lake Maggiore, passing flower-strewn alpine meadows and rifugi with lake views. A low-key introduction to multi-day alpine walking.
