Valnontey
Aosta Valley
Valnontey extends south from Cogne into the glaciated core of the national park, its trails climbing past stone chalets and flower-rich pasture toward the milky meltwater streams draining the Herbetet and Money glaciers. It's considered one of the most reliable places in the Alps to spot ibex at close range, particularly in the early morning near the Vittorio Sella refuge. Rock ptarmigan and golden eagles are also regular sightings on the higher slopes.
