Valnerina — Nera River Walk

Umbria

The Valnerina is the gorge of the Nera river cutting through the Umbrian Apennines from the Sibillini to Terni. The walk follows the river through truffle oak groves and below cliff-top villages with Byzantine defensive towers. The Nera is one of central Italy's cleanest rivers — you can see the bottom in 4 m of water. Otters returned in 2010.
