Valle delle Grandi Pietre

This valley near Gambarie is scattered with enormous rounded granite boulders, remnants of ancient rockfalls softened by millennia of weathering, set among Calabrian pine and beech. The trail winds between the stones before climbing toward the ridge separating the valley from Montalto. Wood grouse historically ranged in these high Aspromonte forests, and the area still feels notably wild for its accessibility.
