Valle del Trigno, Isernia
Molise
The Valle del Trigno cuts through clay hills on the Molise-Abruzzo border in a series of small gorges and gravel bars. Otter was confirmed on the Trigno in 2018 — one of the few confirmed Molise otter sites. Brown trout and barbel are visible in the clear water. The river fishing culture (using traditional fixed nets called 'guadara') is still practised in the villages.
