Riserva Naturale Valle Cavanata
Friuli-Venezia Giulia
Like several old 'valli da pesca' along this stretch of coast, Valle Cavanata was once managed for fish and eel farming before being set aside as a nature reserve, and pink flamingos are now a regular sight wading its shallow brackish pools. Salt-tolerant vegetation rings the lagoon, and hides along the path let visitors watch without disturbing the birds.
