The Valchiusella above Ivrea is one of the most intact medieval landscapes in Piedmont — a valley of terraced rye fields, stone farmhouses and ancient water mills that retains its 15th-century appearance. The valley ends at the Traversella granite massif with old copper mines. No tourist infrastructure exists. The lower valley orchards have heritage apple varieties unique to the area. The Dora Baltea Canavese park adjoins.
