Val Venosta — Sentiero del Sole

The Val Venosta (Vinschgau) is the driest and sunniest valley in the Alps with 300 days of sunshine. The Sentiero del Sole follows 16th-century irrigation canals (waale) on the sunny right bank through apple orchards, chestnut forest and old Romanesque villages to Mals. The Ötztal Alps (including Similaun, where the Iceman was found) are visible across the valley. Nearly flat walking.
