Parco Naturale Val Troncea

Piedmont

Val Troncea has been closed to private traffic since becoming a regional park, leaving its old mule track free for walkers and grazing cattle alike. The valley floor's larch and pine forest gives way to flower-rich pastures where the rare Aquilegia alpina and other protected plants grow. Marmots are abundant enough that the whistled alarm calls become a constant soundtrack by midsummer.
