Alagna Valsesia — Piede del Ghiacciaio

Alagna is a Walser village at 1,200 m — its inhabitants descend from medieval German-speaking colonists who settled above Vercelli. The path from Alagna to Passo dei Salati at 2,971 m crosses through the final tongue of the Monte Rosa glacier system. Walser stone houses in the hamlet of Riva have survived unchanged for 400 years. The cable car from Alagna accesses the highest skiing in Piedmont (3,275 m).
