Val Raccolana

This valley climbs from Chiusaforte toward Sella Nevea beneath the peaks of the Montasio massif, its lower reaches shaded by beech and its upper slopes opening to bare karst. Old smuggling paths once crossed the ridges to the north, and the valley's isolation has kept it markedly quieter than the more famous Julian Alps approaches nearby.
