Val Miller
Lombardy
Val Miller cuts into the Lombard flank of the Adamello-Presanella massif from Vezza d'Oglio in the upper Val Camonica, climbing through larch forest into a stark glacial cirque beneath the Corno Miller. The Adamello glacier itself, though retreating fast, remains the most extensive ice field in the Italian Alps and was the site of brutal high-altitude fighting during WWI. Rusted trenches and gun emplacements from that front are still visible along some of the higher routes.
