Val Martello — Rifugio Martello
Trentino-Alto Adige
Val Martello (Martelltal) cuts deep into the Ortler-Cevedale massif inside Stelvio National Park. The walk to Rifugio Martello (2,610 m) crosses flowery alp meadows and granite boulders below the Cevedale glacier system. The valley is the wildest approach to the Ortler — far fewer people than the Sulden/Solda route. Marmots are so common they barely react to walkers.
