Val Grana — Santuario di Castelmagno

Piedmont

Val Grana above Cuneo is the birthplace of Castelmagno DOP cheese — made on the high Alpine farms from June to October using century-old recipes. The 12th-century Santuario di San Magno clings to a cliff at 1,758 m. The valley has wolf (resident since 2012), roe deer and chamois. The Grana river is crystal clear. Almost no visitors outside August weekends.
