Val Ferret
Aosta Valley
Val Ferret runs northeast from Courmayeur directly beneath the Grandes Jorasses and the Mont Blanc massif's serrated eastern ridges, its wide grassy floor a stark contrast to the ice walls above. The valley forms one leg of the Tour du Mont Blanc, and mountain refuges along the route serve as waypoints for both day walkers and multi-day trekkers. Chamois graze the lower slopes while golden eagles are regularly spotted riding thermals off the glacier faces.
