Running north from Vipiteno toward the Austrian border, this broad valley retains a working alpine character, with scattered timber-and-stone farmhouses and small onion-domed chapels typical of the South Tyrolean uplands. The walking here is gentle by Dolomite standards, following farm tracks through hay meadows with the Zillertal Alps rising at the valley head.
