Passo del Tonale, Val di Sole

Passo del Tonale (1,883 m) on the Trentino-Lombardy border was a WWI frontline — military positions and tunnels still visible. The Presanella glacier (3,558 m) dominates the north. Ibex were reintroduced to the Tonale area in 2018. The flat meadows around the pass are crossed by a WWI historical trail. The Adamello brown bear project operates in the forests below.
