This deep valley off the Val di Sole is one of the least developed corners of the vast Stelvio park, its old spa at Fonti di Rabbi having drawn visitors for the health properties of its ferruginous waters since the 19th century. Dense stands of spruce and larch cover the lower slopes, giving way to open pasture and bare rock higher up toward the Ortles-Cevedale peaks.
