Monte Maggiorasca, Val d'Aveto

Monte Maggiorasca (1,799 m) in the Val d'Aveto is the highest peak in the Ligurian Apennines — part of the Parco Naturale Regionale dell'Aveto. Wolf was reintroduced to the Ligurian Apennines here in the 1990s (self-reintroduced from France and Tuscany — not a formal programme). The beech forest has excellent porcini. Hay meadows with orchids. Dogs off-leash.
