Sestriere — Colle Basset Walk
Piedmont
Sestriere (2,035 m) in the Val Chisone was the main alpine skiing venue for the 2006 Turin Olympics. In summer the plateau is an open alpine meadow above the treeline with Monte Viso (3,841 m) clearly visible and the Col du Montgenevre leading to France. Marmots are tame enough to approach. Dogs run freely on the high meadows in summer.
