Val Camonica holds the world's largest collection of prehistoric rock art — over 140,000 individual carvings spanning from 12,000 BC to the Iron Age. UNESCO designated the site in 1979 — Italy's first UNESCO World Heritage inscription. The Parco Nazionale delle Incisioni Rupestri di Naquane allows dogs on leash and has 1 km of marked paths past rock panels covered in deer, warriors and geometric symbols.
