Val Bregaglia above Chiavenna is a granite valley descending from the Maloja pass on the Swiss border — the valley of the Giacometti family of artists (Alberto Giacometti was born in Borgonovo, just across the border). The Italian section (Valchiavenna) has ancient chestnut terraces and granite gorges. Peregrine on the granite cliffs. The Acqua Fraggia waterfall near Prosto is 150 m. Dogs off-leash.
