Monte Paganuccio, Urbino

Monte Paganuccio (1,076 m) rises above Urbino in the Marche Apennines. The mountain overlooks the city and its UNESCO World Heritage Renaissance palace (Palazzo Ducale of Federico da Montefeltro). Golden eagle nests on the limestone outcrops of the upper ridge. The beech forest below the summit is excellent for porcini in September. The summit view shows Urbino below in its Renaissance setting.
