Tropea — Sentiero dei Toni

Beyond Tropea's famous beach, the Sentiero dei Toni coastal path heads south over red sandstone cliffs above turquoise Tyrrhenian water. The path passes through Tropea's famous red onion cultivation (presidio Slow Food) — fields terraced into the clifftop. The Norman chapel of Santa Maria dell'Isola perched on its sea-stack bookends the walk north. In June the wild fennel above the cliffs is extraordinary.
