Greek Poseidonia, later Roman Paestum, keeps the Doric temples of Hera and "Neptune" and the Temple of Athena on a grassy plain by the Sele, with the forum, amphitheatre and 4.5 km of walls you can walk almost entirely. Buffalo pastures and the mozzarella farms lie just beyond.
