Tempio del Valadier & Santa Maria infra Saxa, Genga

A steep paved mule track climbs from the Frasassi gorge to a huge cave mouth sheltering two structures: the medieval rock hermitage of Santa Maria infra Saxa and, beside it, the elegant 1828 Tempio del Valadier, its dome half-swallowed by the overhang. The terrace looks down the gorge.
