Strombolicchio is a dramatic basalt needle 2 km off Stromboli island, topped by a lighthouse reached by 216 steps cut into the rock. Boats from Stromboli village circle it; snorkelling around its base reveals walls of volcanic rock dropping into deep water. The views back to the smoking Stromboli crater are unique.
