Stromboli has been erupting every 15–20 minutes for at least 2,000 years — Antiquity called it the 'Lighthouse of the Mediterranean.' The guided night hike (mandatory with guide above 400 m) reaches the summit at 924 m for the experience of watching lava bombs arc through the dark sky into the sea below.
