The panoramic road contours the wooded flanks of Monte Argentario between Porto Santo Stefano and Porto Ercole, mostly unpaved on its southern half, with lookouts over the tombolos and lagoon, the islands of Giglio and Giannutri, and — in clear weather — Corsica. Paths drop from it to coves like Cala del Gesso.
