La Cattolica di Stilo is a 10th-century Byzantine church of five domes built on a rocky spur above the Ionian sea — one of the finest Byzantine monuments in Italy. The walk from the Ionian coast through the Stilo ravine reaches the church (freely accessible, dogs allowed outside). The rocky ridge above gives views across the Ionian sea towards Greece. Wild fig and maquis cover the sunny slopes.
