Spiaggia di Varigotti
Liguria
Varigotti's beach curves in a broad golden arc beneath Punta Crena, backed by the pastel and whitewashed cube houses of the Borgo Vecchio, a fishing quarter whose flat-roofed North African-style architecture supposedly reflects centuries of Mediterranean trade and Saracen-era contact. The clear, shallow water and gentle slope make it one of the more swimmable beaches on this stretch of coast. A coastal path west of the village climbs toward the WWII-era bunkers and lookout points scattered along Punta Crena.
