Baia di Sistiana near Trieste is the northernmost natural bay on the Italian Adriatic coast — a sheltered cove below the Karst limestone plateau. The water is clear. The bay is overlooked by a medieval castle on the cliff. The Rilke footpath above (Sentiero Rilke) was walked by the poet Rainer Maria Rilke who lived at Duino castle above. Dogs welcome on the beach.
