Spiaggia di San Michele
Marche
This beach sits directly beneath the white limestone cliffs of Monte Conero, reached only via a steep switchback path that discourages the crowds found at more accessible coves nearby. Clear water and a dramatic cliff backdrop make the climb down worthwhile, and the descent passes through fragrant Mediterranean scrub typical of the Conero park. There are no facilities, so visitors need to bring everything in and out.
