Spiaggia di Maratea, Basilicata

Basilicata

Maratea on the Tyrrhenian coast is one of Italy's least-known coastal gems — Basilicata has only 32 km of Tyrrhenian coastline, all protected. A 21 m Christ the Redeemer statue (larger than Rio) stands on Monte San Biagio above the coves. The water is turquoise and the coves are small and intimate. The medieval town of Maratea above is almost perfectly preserved. Dogs welcome on the coves.
