Lignano Sabbiadoro ('Golden Sand') has 8 km of fine sand on the tip of the Friulian Riviera — a spit between the Tagliamento lagoon and the Adriatic. The 'sabbiadoro' (golden sand) is the finest on the northern Adriatic. The pine forest behind the beach is a nature park. Dogs in designated sections year-round. The lagoon side has flamingo and little egret.
