Riserva Naturale Sorgenti del Pescara

Abruzzo

This small but significant reserve protects the point where the Tirino and Pescara rivers well up from underground aquifers, creating a mosaic of reed beds and clear pools right beside the town of Popoli. European beavers, reintroduced to Abruzzo in recent years, have established a population here, visible at dawn and dusk.
