Monte Gariglione (1,764 m) is the highest summit of the Sila Piccola — the southern arm of the Sila plateau. The approach from Sersale crosses old-growth black pine (Pinus laricio) forest. Wolf pack territory in the Sila Piccola is large — tracks found on virtually every winter walk. Golden eagle has 3 confirmed pairs on the Gariglione massif. The Ionian Sea is visible from the summit.
