The Regia Ferriera di Mongiana in the Serre Calabresi near Mongiana is a Bourbon royal iron foundry (1771) in a deep beech forest — it produced cannon and rifles for the Kingdom of Two Sicilies until 1861. The foundry ruins are a forest museum. The surrounding forest (800 m) has wolf and wildcat. Ancient beech trees over 200 years old. The Serre massif above has excellent hiking. Dogs off-leash.
