The Selva di Meana above Preci in the Valnerina is one of the oldest intact beech forests in the Monti Sibillini National Park — some trees over 300 years old. The forest floor is a carpet of wild garlic in May. Wild boar and roe deer. Porcini mushrooms in September. The village of Preci above was a centre for Renaissance surgery — the 'Preciani' surgeons were called throughout Europe.
