The Scala dei Turchi (Stairway of the Turks) is a white marlstone cliff that natural erosion has shaped into broad terraced steps above the sea. The blinding white contrasts with the deep blue of the Mediterranean at its base. Named for Saracen pirates who sheltered here, it is one of Sicily's most photographed natural formations.
