Santuario di Castelmonte

Castelmonte (Stara Gora) is a walled monastic hamlet on a spur of the Julian Prealps, a pilgrimage site since at least the 13th century. Its ramparts and the road up through vineyards and chestnut wood give a sweeping view over Cividale, the plain and, on clear days, the lagoon and sea.
