Santuario della Mentorella & Guadagnolo

Lazio

The Mentorella clings to a rock spur above the Giovenzano gorge, one of the oldest Marian shrines in Italy and a favourite retreat of Pope John Paul II. An old pilgrim path climbs to it through beech wood from Capranica Prenestina, continuing to Guadagnolo (1,218 m) with its wide Roman-Campagna view.
