Rebuilt over an older shrine after Norman conquest, the Basilica of Santa Maria Regina di Anglona stands isolated on its own hill east of Tursi, with nothing around it but olive terraces and the clay calanchi dropping to the Agri river below. The approach lane is quiet even in summer, and the churchyard terrace gives an open view over Basilicata's badland country.
