A steep, well-made mule track climbs from Civate through chestnut wood to the isolated monastic complex of San Pietro al Monte, one of the finest Romanesque churches in Lombardy, with carved stucco and frescoes inside and the small oratory of San Benedetto alongside. The terrace looks over the Brianza lakes.
