San Miniato — White Truffle Walk

San Miniato on its ridge above the Arno is the centre of the Tuscan white truffle trade — the Tuber magnatum pico found in these hills is worth more than its weight in gold. The November truffle fair fills the hilltop; walking the oak groves outside town with local trifolai (truffle hunters) and their dogs is an extraordinary experience.
