Chiappera sits at the head of the Maira under the Rocca Provenzale and Provenzale spires, a mecca for rock climbers. A walkers' loop circles their base through larch and pasture to the Cascata di Stroppia — Italy's highest waterfall when it flows — and the Lago Niera.
