Riserva Naturale Valle del Freddo
Lombardy
Under the Monte Clemo scree, air chilled inside the mountain pours out through vents at the base, keeping the ground so cold that edelweiss, mountain avens and dwarf pine grow here at valley altitude — plants normally found far higher. A short signed trail (open in the flowering season) crosses the phenomenon.
